ASA (now Swim England) swimming insurance is required for members, teachers, and clubs to provide crucial legal protection for potential injuries or property damage during activities, covering liabilities like public and professional indemnity, ensuring compliance, protecting personal assets, and meeting governing body best practices (like having lifeguards). It's essential because participants or parents can sue individuals or clubs for negligence, and without insurance, personal wealth could be at risk, making it a fundamental part of professional practice and club operation.
-
The main things you need to bring yourself is a swimming bag, trunks/swimsuit, goggles, towel/s and a water bottle with stuff like floats being optional as the pools we use usually provide them for our swimmers to use but you might be asked by your coach to bring along flippers.
-
If they’re starting from swim school then we’ll get them up to being comfortable swimming without assistance and they’ll naturally progress from there to then being a part of our lane swimmers so from that point forward our coaches will keep note of their progress and they’ll be able to progress up through the different lanes.
